Liberty Island is open daily year-round, except for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Spring and fall offer the best weather. Summer is peak season, so expect larger crowds and longer waits for the ferry. Booking the earliest ferry of the day helps you avoid the worst lines.

Practical Advice
Dress in layers, as the wind off the harbor can be cold, even on sunny days. Wear comfortable, close-toed shoes because you will do a lot of walking, especially if you plan to explore both islands or climb the pedestal stairs.
Remember that large bags, backpacks, and strollers are not allowed inside the monument itself. You will need to rent a locker (requires a $0.25 deposit) before entering the pedestal or crown. Food is not allowed inside, but you can bring a clear plastic water bottle.
